Misako Uno Drops a Darkly Sweet Music Video

AAA member Misako Uno has dropped a brand-new music video ahead of her upcoming live concert release. The new music video is for the track “BLACK CHERRY -black honey mix-” and is Misako Uno performing the song on the big stage. This is to help promote her first live video release of Uno Misako Live Tour 2019 -Honey Story- which was recorded at her last performance of her 2019 tour. Release date is set for April 29th. Uno Misako Live Tour 2019 -Honey Story- is being released in four editions total, two editions will be standard only and will include both the Blu-ray and DVD. The other two editions will be limited editions and will come with a Blu-ray, DVD and forty-eight page photo book. After the success of her latest release “24-25”, vocalist iri announced that she will be releasing a brand new album “Sparkle” on March 25th. This will be the latest album release done by her since “Shade” last year and will be iri’s fourth studio album overall. Not much is known about the album except that it will be released in both a CD-only standard edition and a CD+DVD limited edition. 

iri has also announced that she will be holding a spring tour simply called iri Spring Tour 2020. Kicking off on April 2nd in the fable SOUND MUSEUM VISION in Tokyo, with the remaining of the tour proper starting from April 12th till June 7th. Dates are posted here.

Meimi Tamura to Drop First Album and DVD

Artist Meimi Tamura has announced she will be dropping her very first album “Ichijiku” and is set to drop on April 8th. Meimi is a former member of the idol group ANGERME and made her debut in August of 2018. Ichijiku will have a total of twelve songs and eight of those tracks will be completely brand new. The album will also be released in two editions total; a standard CD-only edition, and a limited edition that comes with a bonus DVD. Also, Meimi will be releasing her first DVD of her first live performance titled “Clip & Covers” and will drop on April 8th. Pre-orders are up for both the DVD plus her new album and are posted below, along with Meimi’s song “Lovin' you” for those unfamiliar with her work.

Tuneback Tuesday For the Third Week of February

Let’s turn back the hands of time and look back on the songs that made the Japanese music industry what it was on the Oricon Weekly Chart. This week we look back at the second week of February for both 2010 and 2015. Japanese pop vocalist aiko and Johnny’s boy group Johnny’s WEST reigned supreme with “Modorenai Ashita” and “Zundoku Paradise” respectively. But what exactly made these songs so great?

“『戻れない明日』” (“Modorenai Ashita”) - aiko

By 2010 aiko had already became a staple in the Japanese music industry. “Modorenai Ashita” was the twenty-sixth single that aiko released and was used for the drama Magerarenai Onna, a ten-episode mini-series which aired from January 13 to March 17 of 2010. In its first week it sold over 58,000 copies and was only released in one edition, a CD-only which included a total of four tracks. “Modorenai Ashita” opens up with a charming combination of piano and drums that swells as the keyboard joins them; the whole effect feels timeless and classic as the music fades when aiko starts singing. The experience is on full display here with her amazing vocals, lyrics, and melody which she wrote and composed. She absolutely proves how this song claimed the number one spot for the second week of February in 2010.

“『ズンドコ パラダイス』(Zundoku Paradise)” was Johnny’s WEST’s third single and the second single to reach number one on the Oricon charts, selling over 97,000 copies. The single originally came in three editions including a CD-only regular edition and a CD + DVD limited edition Type A which included a music video & making-of for the lead track “Zundoku Paradise”, and the CD + DVD limited edition Type B included a digest of Johnny’s WEST’s Debut Commemorative Event. The talented and famous CHOKKAKU, known for contributing to artists such as AKB48, Ueto Aya, Shibasaki Kou, etc. arranged two songs on this single, including the title track “Zundoku Paradise”. The amazing Takafumi Iwasaki wrote and composed the lead track while rising star AIMYON wrote the B-side track “Time goes by”. “Zundoku Paradise” starts off slowly then dives into a high energy beat with harmonious yet boisterous vocals. This track will lift your spirits and induce a jump in your step with its high spirited composition and arrangement. Each member has their own vocals in the verses that brings a variety of vocal capabilities while in the chorus they all come together, exhibiting an amazing unity. The high spirited energy from every member, the composition, and words made this song a chart-topper and left quite the impression on the industry.

Sandaime J Soul Brothers raises the flage with a new album

Vocal and dance unit Sandaime J Soul Brothers announced they will be dropping a brand new album titled Raise The Flag on March 18th. In this new album, there will be the single trilogy that was released in 2019 which included “Yes we are”, SCARLET feat. Afrojack”, and “Winter Sky / White Wings” along with the internet only song “Rat-tat-tat”. Raise The Flag is being released in four editions total, including a limited edition CD with three Blu-rays, and a one-hundred-page photobook. Pre-orders are up and will be posted below along with a tentative track-listing. Final order for these tracks has yet to be determined. Be sure to check out the “Rat-tat-tat” music video below.
