King & Prince sing about love wars

Male idol group King & Prince announced they will be singing the main theme for the upcoming live action film adaptation of Kaguya-Sama Love is War which is based on the young jump comic bearing the same name. The new song will be titled “koi-wazukai” and will be released August 28. It will be available in three editions. The standard edition will be CD-only but will include three tracks total, the second song being unique to this edition and the third being the song “Oh My Girl”. The limited edition type A will be CD + DVD and the CD will feature only two tracks with the second being unique to this edition while the DVD will include the music video for “koi-wazukai” and a Making Of as well. The limited edition type B will also be CD + DVD with the CD including only two tracks, the second track being unique. The DVD will feature the dance version of “koi-wazukai”. If you want to buy all three editions you can also pick up the bundle edition which will feature all three.

Deer Kenshi Yonezu

Mega pop star Kenshi Yonezu announced he will be releasing a brand new single titled “Uma to Shika” September 11. “Uma to Shika” will feature both the main theme of sports drama No Side Game ,“Uma to Shika”, and the main theme from animated movie Children of the Sea, “Umi no Yurei”. “Uma to Shika” will feature three songs but the third has yet to be revealed.

“Uma to Shika” will be released in three editions. The standard edition will be CD-only while the limited edition will be CD + DVD, the DVD including a music video for “Umi no Yurei”. The last version will be another limited edition but this one will include only a CD; however, you also will receive a pendant. Pre-order your copy of “Uma to Shika” at the links provided.

Indie Corner alum Nakigoto announced that they will be releasing their first mini-album, 夜のつくり方 (Yoru no Tsukurikata), September 18. Yoru no Tsukirikata will drop with a CD-only edition featuring a six track total including their popular track “Metropolitan”.  To commemorate the release of the mini-album Nakigoto will be holding a small release tour from October 4 to November 24 (details at right).

Spitz is bringing it back to fans with new album!

After returning from their hiatus, four-member rock band Spitz announced that they will be releasing a brand new album titled 見っけ (Mikke) October 9. This comes on the heels of the band’s successful single “優しいあの子” (“Yasashi Ano Ko”) release and it will be their latest album since 醒めない (Samenai) back in 2016. It will be their sixteenth album overall.

To celebrate the release, the album will drop with four different editions: a CD-only standard edition, two CD + DVD/Blu-ray limited editions, and special vinyl edition. The DVD/Blu-ray will include music videos for “Mikke”, “Yasashi Ano Ko”,  and new track “ありがとさん” (“Arigato San”) along with behind-the-scenes footage the band captured during their France trip. Mikke will drop with twelve tracks total but an additional thirteenth track will be included on the limited and vinyl editions. Spitz also announced a brand new cross-country tour lovingly titled SPITZ JAMBOREE TOUR 2019-2020 "MIKKE”, but its dates will be announced at a later date.

Music Corner Week 15: Billie Idle

Billie Idle is a five-member female idol group whose music is not of a traditional pop genre but instead a punk rock style full of energy and fun. The group is a continuation of former idol group BiS, whose acronym stands for “Brand new idol Society”. Billie Idle’s founding members are First Summer Uika and Hirano Mozomi, both of whom began their careers in BiS. Auditions were held to fill out the rest of the group and Momose Momo and Yasui Yuuhi won their respective auditions. Billie Idle went on to make their full debut in March of 2015. In 2016 Yasui Yuuhi had to step down from the group due to health reasons but fortunately Momose Momo’s sister Akira stepped in to take Yasui’s place. Finally, on May 12 of 2018, Pour Lui, who founded and started BiS, made a surprise appearance with Billie Idle during their encore at a concert. It was later revealed that she would be joining the group full-time and on June 6 of 2018 she was officially made a full-time member of Billie Idle.

Being an offspring of BiS, Billie Idle keeps a lot of that same DNA, leaning more toward rock and avoiding pop music typically associated with idol groups. They have a really good punk sound that radiates energy and you can hear this on full display in “P.S.R.I.P” (posted below). Each of the girls has a great voice and really, their music is just plain fun to listen to. 

In the years since Billie Idle got started they have dropped six full albums and one mini-album. Their first album Idle Gossip was released in April of 2015 and their first single “Anarchy in the Music Scene” was dropped a month earlier. The group is still rocking out to this very day; in fact, they just released their amazing single “Bokura Mada Chippokenakorono Hanashi” and have also announced they will be releasing a brand new album in October.
