FUNKIST brings out Best Of to celebrate monumental anniversary!

Five-member rock band FUNKIST announced that they will be releasing their first Best Of album tilted FUNKIST 20'sBEST ～LION～ on August 27. To celebrate twenty years of FUNKIST, the luxurious history album will include tracks from several albums from their extensive library starting from first album THANKIST, originally released in 2004, to their latest THE WIND AND THE SUN, which was dropped this past March. The Best Of will also bring out over forty tracks on a single disc making it a definite must-buy for fans.

FUNKIST announced that they will be having a release party tour for the album with its first stop at Tokyo’s TSUTAYA O-West location. More locations are being planned.

No pre-order has been set for the album as of the time of this writing but we’ll update you when it does. In the meantime check out the music video for “THE WIND AND THE SUN” below!

ARASHI announces amazing four-disc set for Best Of album!

As previously announced, five-member male idol group ARASHI will be releasing a brand new Best Of album simply called 5×20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 June 26. 

Labeled as the group’s “all time best”, 5×20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 will include songs from ARASHI’s debut single “A・RA・SHI” to latest single “Kimi no Uta”. It will flaunt a whopping sixty-three songs, totaling it out to a four-disc set. Showing shades of their previous Best Of collection, ARASHI will also include a bonus sixty-fourth track to be used as their anniversary song, “5x20”.

 5×20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 will be released in three different editions: a 4-CD-only standard edition and two 4-CD+DVD limited editions (Type One and Type Two). Type One will be encased in special packaging, include a special photo booklet and a 72-page lyric booklet, and its DVD will include the music video for “5x20” along with its making-of. Type Two will include a code for a digital booklet, a 100-lyric/photo booklet, and DVD clips from lives across ARASHI’s luxurious career starting from their debut concert to last year’s untitled tour.

SHE IS SUMMER shows off artsy side with latest music video!

Vocalist SHE IS SUMMER dropped the music video for her upcoming song, “Darling Daring” on her official YouTube Channel. “Darling Daring”, which will be released on her upcoming album MIRACLE FOOD on May 14, was chosen to be the ending theme song for popular variety show Ou-sama no Brunch for the month of May.

“Darling Daring” is composed by the duo of Seiichi Nagai and Akito Katayose who have written for SHE IS SUMMER before, which was for her song “CALL ME IN YOUR SUMMER” back in 2017. The music video was produced in collaboration with tattoo company opnner, with Kaho Iwaya as producer and Naoya Maeda as videographer. This expressive collaboration was exhibited in the music video itself by boasting several hand-drawn animations throughout.

Music Corner Week 6: MAN WITH A MISSION

MAN WITH A MISSION is a five-member hard rock/dance pop group that began performing in 2010. Frontman Tokyo Tanaka provides strong and powerful vocals; great guitarist Jean-Ken Johnny often provides well-defined riffs and is the lone rapper of the group; bassist Kamikaze Boy often harmonizes well with Tanaka with his amazing backup vocals; DJ Santa Monica, well, DJs and samples (check out his work in their amazing song “Raise Your Flag”); and drummer Spear Rib provides hard-hitting beats.

“Dead End in Tokyo” is a really good starting point for anyone who is interested in checking out MAN WITH A MISSION. It was co-written, co-composed, and co-produced by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. This led to the entire song being in English but in it you hear a lot of MAN WITH A MISSION’s signature style; Jean-Ken Johnny has some really good riffs throughout the song and Spear Rib executes some intricate drum-work which gives the song an industrial feeling. Tokyo Tanaka also has some excellent vocal work in this song which can be heard during the “dream on” part of the chorus; his voice not only harmonizes with the backup vocals but with the background instrumental as well.

Over the years MAN WITH A MISSION has released a total of five studio albums and two compilation albums. Their music has also been used for several anime, dramas, and TV commercials. More recently their single “Break the Contradictions” was used as the theme for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s 2018 G1 Climax.

MAN WITH A MISSION shows no signs of slowing down having already announced a new single titled “Remember Me” which is due out June 5 along with a tour. Zoo Cardel comes out swinging with first studio album!

Up-and-coming three-member rock band Zoo Cardel announced that they will be releasing their first full album self-tilted Zoo Cardel July 10. It will be the latest release by the group since that of their mini-album Yumi ga Sametara back in November of last year. The album is set to include tracks from previously released mini-albums Yumi ga Sametara and Live Forever and will have twelve tracks total.
