Kamen Rider celebrates the end of an era
/Popular tokusatsu series Kamen Rider is currently celebrating the end of the Heisei era and released a compilation album of all of the opening themes of its shows throughout the era, starting all the way from Kamen Rider Kuuga to the most recent Kamen Rider Zi-O series. The compilation was released May 1, the very first day of the new Reiwa era.
The compilation is officially titled Heisei Kamen Rider 20 Titles Commemoration Best and was released in three editions. The Standard Edition is a three-disc set which contains the main theme songs of all twenty titles, which are remastered, plus unreleased tracks. There is also a remix album called Heisei Kamen Rider 20 Titles Commemoration Best Non-Stop Mix which will have the “Non-Stop Mix” for all twenty-two themes used for the series. The Limited Edition is completely insane as it is a four-disc set which is essentially the entire Standard Edition combined with the Non-Stop Mix Edition. Along with the four discs you get a twenty-pin set which has each of the Riders’ motorcycles from their perspective series along with a booklet.
Kamen Rider is a long-running kids’ television show that started in the 1970s and ended in 1989. In the year 2000 it was brought back to air with Kamen Rider Kuuga and has been around ever since. The term “tokusatsu” refers to a genre of live action series that uses a lot of special effects.
