Miyakawa Kun teams up with Takuto once again to form a powerful unit!

Popular YouTuber Miyakawa Kun announced that he will be teaming up with vocalist Takuto once again—becoming a brand new vocal unit called Only this time—and will release a brand new single titled “ANSWER”. Dropping July 3, “ANSWER” is set to become the new opening theme for the long-running detective anime Detective Conan which will begin airing Jun 1.

This is not the first time the pair is teaming up with each other; the first was for their hit song “Kamikaze Express”, which was the ending theme for the same anime early last year. “ANSWER” will be written and composed by Miyakawa himself and produced by Nob, the bassist for the band MY FIRST STORY.

“ANSWER” will be released with four different editions: a standard only CD-only edition, a Detective Conan CD-only edition which will include a TV edited version of “ANSWER”, a CD + DVD limited edition which will include both the music video for “ANSWER” along with a making-of for said video, and a fan club edition for hardcore fans.

Popular actress appears in new BiSH music video

On the verge of their new release, anti-establishment six-member idol group BiSH released a music video for one of the tracks on their new mini album CARROTS, which drops digitally May 3 for Apple Music Limited. The new music video is for the song “I am me”, which will be featured on the CARROTS mini album. “I am me” also features popular model and actress Makoto Tanaka, who was also in the group’s “Promise the Star” music video back in 2017.

As previously announced, on July 3 CARROTS will be released physically alongside STiCKS which came out April 3 on Apple Music Limited. The full album, CARROTS and STiCKS, is being released in four editions. There will be a Standard Edition (CD only), a Two-CD Edition, a Two-CD + DVD Edition (which will have both CDs of previous editions along with a DVD), and a Limited Edition (which upgrades the DVD to a Blu-ray).

Yuki Akira births a new path with debut music video!

Vocalist Yuki Akira dropped the music video for her upcoming track “Birthday” on her official YouTube channel. “Birthday”, which will be a part of “誕生～バースデイ～ “(“Tanjo ~Birthday~”) and dropping June 5, will be Akira’s major label debut with SPEEDSTAR RECORDS. “Tanjo ~Birthday~” will feature four tracks and be Akira’s fourth release overall since the release of her album Sosei back in October of last year.

Catch the single in two different editions: a CD-only standard edition and a CD + DVD limited edition which will include clips from her Zangai no Kokyu one-woman live event which took place in Yotsuya Art Complex Hall last October.

The music video features Akira sitting at a table eating various food as the people surrounding her are frozen in time just before she blows out the candle for her birthday—a interesting concept for a debuting artist.

Miyakawa-Kun shows that he's not the only talented one in the family with debut!

Fresh-faced vocalist Airi Miyakawa announced that she will releasing her debut mini-album スマホ映えの向こうの世界 (Smart phone Hae no Mukou no Sekai) June 26. Sister of popular YouTuber Miyakawa-Kun, she will be partnering with private label NiM RECORDS for her first foray into the music industry. 

Smart phone Hae no Mukou no Sekai will have legendary musical duo Jazzin'park composing the track “「ハジメマシテ」” (”「Hajimemashite」”) and will be released with six tracks. Miyakawa will also be joined by several guest musicians such as Hidekazu Hinata (bassist for the band Straightener) and Susumu Nishikawa (guitarist of popular band Diamond Head).

Smart phone Hae no Mukou no Sekai will feature both a standard CD-only edition and a CD + DVD limited edition which will include clips from her one-woman live event which took place in April.

Music Corner Week 5: RIRI

RIRI got her start in the music industry in 2011 when became a finalist on the program Next Star Generation Star, which was an audition show hosted by David Foster, a famous music producer. In 2012, RIRI performed in New York for the first time at the Dream Support Project and she got to meet her idol, Japanese R&B singer AI. In 2016 RIRI got her career started professionally with AI’s record label MIC-A-HOLIC Inc with AI as her producer and mentor. In 2017 RIRI was signed to Sony Music Japan and debuted with her first album, RIRI.

RIRI’s music style incorporates the use of R&B and pop tunes which flow with her powerful vocals. RIRI’s vocal ability far precedes her years. In her song “RUSH” you hear the power in her voice mixed with the R&B style and use of English, making it a more a western style song. “HONEY” showcases RIRI’s vocal abilities alongside the mid-tempo R&B/pop music style.

With several releases under her belt, RIRI isn’t stopping now. In an interview with music producers while performing for auditions at Hard Rock Cafe she stated her goal is to bring her music to the world and win a Grammy. Currently RIRI has two EPs which were released in 2016 and 2017 (“I love to sing” and “RUSH”), two studio albums both released in 2018 (RIRI and NEO), and a new EP dropping May 22! She recently collaborated with rapper Junoflo on her latest song “luv luv”.
