Mariya Takeuchi to bring picture perfect end to anniversary!

To bookend her fourth anniversary in the music industry, longtime singer-songwriter Mariya Takeuchi announced that she will be re-releasing five of her albums during her tenure with her old label RCA. The five album in question are BEGINNING, UNIVERSITY STREET, LOVE SONGS, Miss M, and PORTRAIT, with PORTRAIT being the last of the re-releases to see the light of day again March 27.

Per the norm of prior re-releases, PORTRAIT will not only include the originally released twelve tracks but also several bonus tracks from Takeuchi’s various concerts during the 1980s along with a small photo booklet.

LEGO BIG MORL cattily titled their upcoming album!

Four-member rock band LEGO BIG MORL announced that they will be dropping a brand new album interestingly titled KEITH set to drop April 17. The album will include recently released “一秒のあいだ” (“Ippun no Aida”) and brandish eight tracks total. KEITH  will be the latest album by LEGO BIG MORL since the release of Shinzou no Ibasho back in March 2017.

The band went into detail as to why the album is mysteriously tilted KEITH. “While thinking of the direction to handle the album we saw a weak cat approach us; and even though he kept falling on his side, he never gave up. We were so impressed by his will to live in just that five meter radius that we decided to name the album after him—and his name was Keith.”

SHE IS SUMMER cooks up new EP!

Mico Yakumo’s R&B fusion solo project SHE IS SUMMER announced today a brand new EP deliciously titled MIRACLE FOOD which is set for release May 14. The news came off of her latest one-woman live and the EP will feature six tracks total. MIRACLE FOOD will be the latest release by SHE IS SUMMER since her second EP hair salon back in August of last year.

Per the norm of SHE IS SUMMER EPs, there will be a slew of guest artists to aid as both writers and composers—artists such as SIRUP, CICADA, and evening cinema, just to name a few.

Finally, SHE IS SUMMER announced that for this E.P. she’ll be having a pair of one-woman lives cleverly titled FOOD COURT. The lives are to take place in the famous Osaka Shengri-La live-house and Tokyo’s LIQUIDROOM live-house May 19 and June 1 respectively.

milet takes us down the rabbit hole with new of her next EP!

After a very successful first showing with her first major label, vocalist milet announced the release of her next major label EP Wonderland EP, scheduled for release May 15. The announcement came about because it is set to be the main theme for the upcoming animated film Birthday Wonderland, which will hit Japanese theaters starting April 26. We included the trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Wonderland EP will include five tracks, only two of which were revealed prior to the time of this writing. The album will spawn in three different editions: a CD-only standard edition and two CD + DVD limited editions. Not much is different between the two limited editions save for the fact that one will have a special slip-case cover of Birthday Wonderland compared to one featuring just milet.

BUMP OF CHICKEN announces new album

The four-member alternative rock group BUMP OF CHICKEN announced March 14 that they will be releasing a new album July 10. Not much is currently known about the new album but it is set to drop with three editions: a standard CD-only edition and two limited editions titled Type A and Type B, which will include a DVD and a Blu-ray respectively. Included on the DVD/Blu-ray will be BUMP OF CHICKEN’s performance at this past year’s COUNTDOWN JAPAN. Prior to the release of this album, Butterflies was the latest album that BUMP OF CHICKEN released back in February 2016.
