Yasushi Akimoto-produced group Last Idol announced today their third single, which will be released on August 1st. All of the first generation members will participate in the single. For their song “Cup Ring”, all of the members of the Last Idol Family will participate in a senbatsu (election) to determine who will sing the song.

DOBERMAN INFINITY member SWAY announce today on his 32nd birthday that he will be doing a solo album —which will be his first—. Set to release August 29th the album will include 12 songs total including “MANZANA” which was previously released in November.
SWAY commented “There various amounts of things I want to do for this project, and thats the challenge.”

Billboard Japan announced today their mid-year ranking. Kenshi Yonezu took the first spot for TOP ARTIST with both TWICE and BTS taking second and third respectively.
For HOT 100, “Lemon” took first which is understandable with its amount of digital sales. “Glass wo Ware” from Keyakizaka 46 took second and Gen Hoshino’s song “Doraemon” took third.
For HOT ALBUMS Namie Amuro’s Finally took first --once again, very understandable with close to two million copies sold as of this post. AKB48’s Bokutachi wa, ano Hi no Yuake wo Shitteiru took second and Kenshi Yonezui‘s BOOTLEG took third.

Long-time industry staple Yosui Inoue announced today that his new song “care” will be used as a promotional song for beverage company Pocari Sweat’s latest commercial. This will be his first song in nine years, following “Love Rainbow”, released back in 2009.
