Hikaru Utada Science Fiction Tour 2024: Details for Taipei Shows Revealed!

With Hikaru Utada's highly anticipated SCIENCE FICTION TOUR scheduled to start in Fukuoka on 13th July, the artist announced details for their August live shows in Taipei, Taiwan today.

Utada is scheduled to perform their first solo live show in Taiwan, gracing the stage of Taipei Arena on 10th and 11th August. Marking a significant milestone in their career this year, this performance signifies their first solo international performance in 14 years, including their artist activities internationally as “Utada,” and their first appearance abroad since their memorable showcase at Coachella Music Festival in 2022.

In recent years, their singles “First Love” and “Hatsukoi” have experienced a resurgence in popularity across Asia and beyond, fueled by the success of the Netflix series First Love, making this solo performance a highly-anticipated, must-see event for fans.

Hikaru Utada Shares “Face My Fears (A. G. Cook Remix)” Music Video on YouTube Premiere

Hikaru Utada’s latest album BAD MODE debuted at #1 on digital charts in Japan and also significantly ranked in various charts in 21 countries and regions around the globe. The album will soon be available on CD, including the Single-run Limited Edition, on February 23.

While we wait eagerly for the CD release, Hikaru has shared the music video for one of the bonus tracks from the album, “Face My Fears (A. G. Cook Remix),” back on February 10!

The music video has been released to celebrate the launch of the KINGDOM HEARTS series cloud versions on Nintendo Switch. Created by the video production team from REAL ROCK DESIGN, it features famous scenes from the series edited anew to sync with the music. A world-wide audience has been sending rave comments since the video release was announced, as proof, once again, of the global popularity of the Kingdom Hearts series and its theme song.

The original “Face My Fears (English Version) / Hikaru Utada & Skrillex “KINGDOM HEARTS III” Opening Theme Song” charted in the US Billboard Hot 100, and the new version was remixed by A. G. CooK, who co-produced “One Last Kiss” and “Kimini Muchuu,” also on the album BAD MODE, turning out the brand-new banger.

The album will include three versions of the song: Japanese and English versions of the original and the A. G. CooK remix. Check out all of them!

Hikaru Utada Announced Online Concert!

The wait is almost over. Here’s the update fans have all been waiting for. The online concert titled "Hikaru Utada Live Sessions from Air Studios" will be streamed on the artist's birthday, January 19.

The studio concert was recorded at Air Studios, the legendary recording studio in London, with the concept of performing the songs for the first time from Hikaru Utada’s brand-new album BAD MODE, releasing on January 19. Performing the majority of songs from an album on the very day of its release will be a first for Hikaru Utada.

For this performance, Utada gathered a group of renowned musicians led by bassist Jodi Milliner, the band master for their tour in 2018. The session is recorded and mixed by sound engineer Steve Fitzmaurice, who also worked on the new album. Video was directed by David Barnard, whose filmography includes Radiohead's "In Rainbows - From Basement" and Eric Clapton's "LOCKDOWN SESSIONS". The idea is that the online show allows you to immerse yourself in the ultimate performance with the best sound and video in the most comfortable space of your choice.

It's a rare opportunity for fans everywhere and the artist themselves to share and celebrate the release of the first new album in 3 years and 7 months, so don't miss it!

Hikaru Utada Connects with Fans with Latest Music Video!

It is Hikaru Utada's 23rd anniversary of debut. On this memorial day, we are very excited to finally share details of the 8th studio album, BAD MODE!

The album will be released digitally on January 19 and will also be available on CD February 23. The album will feature many hit songs such as "Kimini Muchuu" (main theme for TBS Friday night drama Saiai), as well as One Last Kiss”, theme song for EVANGELION:3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME, “Find Love” featured in SHISEIDO's new global campaign "POWER IS YOU", Face My Fears (opening theme for action role-playing game KINGDOM HEARTS Ⅲ), Time (main theme for NTV Sunday drama Bishoku Tantei Akechi Goro), PINK BLOOD (main theme for anime series To Your Eternity) and Darenimo Iwanai(SUNTORY Tennensui CM song). Of course, it also has brand new songs including the title track “BAD MODE” and, on top of that, there will be some remixes as bonus tracks.

Hikaru Utada Doesn't Let the Kiss Go With US and EU Vinyl Editions of Latest Hit!

Industry icon Hikaru Utada announced that she will be releasing both an EU and US version of “One Last Kiss” in vinyl via American label Milan Records August 20. The title song "One Last Kiss" is the theme song for the movie Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time and was released in Japan in early March. For the first time as a solo artist at Oricon she won the top spot in two digital categories for three consecutive weeks and also won the top spot on the Billboard JAPAN HOT 100. Following the hit of this song overseas, it was decided that the EU and US versions of the vinyl would be released.

English translations by Utada are posted on the lyric cards of the EU and US editions. The LP is a color vinyl specification: the US version is transparent and the EU version is blue. Rei Ayanami's illustration was used for the LP jacket released in Japan but Asuka Shikinami Langley's illustration was used for the US and EU edition jackets. Also, those who purchase the LP will receive a sticker with a jacket illustration.
