Ghost like girlfriend Shows Off his Directorial Style with Latest Music Video!

Vocalist Ghost like girlfriend just released the music video for his track “BAKE NO KAWA” on his YouTube channel! Originally released in May, “BAKE NO KAWA” was the latest digital track done by the vocalist since ”光線” (“Kosen”) back in January and will be his second release of 2020. Taking things in his own hands during the ongoing crisis, the music video was shot, edited, and directed by Ghost like girlfriend himself and shows off several abstract scenes that is a sight to behold.

Music Corner Week 7: Ghost like girlfriend

Ghost like girlfriend is the solo project of visionary singer-songwriter Ken Okabayashi which started back in 2017. Originally planned to be a one-and-done project, Okabayashi brings something fresh to the fusion genre, a genre already crowded by several artists.

While Okabayashi’s dulcet vocals might be a turn-off for some, they must be commendable when they are combined with the amazing compositions that discover that missing puzzle piece that makes the song whole, coupled with the understanding on how and when to inter-splice that particular beat and melody—a skill not all artists have when trying to tackle this particular genre. This is perfectly put to the forefront in his track “shut it up”, wherein his vocals, albeit jarring for first time listeners, become something that just clicks together when the entire composition is mixed in. It all ends up coalescing into an unforgettable track. On the opposite spectrum, Okobayashi’s  tracks “(want) like (lover)” and “sand” blur that line of what is fusion and takes it a step further with something that is so gelled together perfectly, introducing listeners to a world of sounds they never knew existed; a world that, without Okobayashi’s superb knowledge of composition, could turn the whole track off-balance, spiraling the song’s components into disarray.

Currently, Okabayashi has three EPs under his Ghost like girlfriend moniker: “WEAKNESS”(2017), “WITNESS”(2018), and “WINDNESS” (2019). He’s also got an upcoming first album titled Version under EMI Record, dropping June 19. You can pre-order it here.

Ghost like girlfriend announces special guest to partake in first album release!

As previously announced, vocalist Ken Okabayashi’s solo project Ghost like girlfriend will be dropping its first full album under EMI Records. Elegantly titled Version, the album is due out June 19.

First announced during Ghost like girlfriend’s WWW -WEAKNESS,WITNESS,WINDNESS- concert back in March, Version will include “Last Haze”, a part of PlayStation’s Instagram mini-drama; and extremely popular track “fallin’”, totaling the album to eleven tracks. 

Version will release with two editions: standard edition and a two-disc limited edition. The two-disc limited edition will include remixes of Ghost like girlfriend’s songs done by popular DJ AmPm, SASUKE, and Night Tempo, just to name a few.

Ghost Like Girlfriend Announces A New Mini-Album!

Vocalist Ken Okabayashi’s rock inspired solo project Ghost like girlfriend announced today a brand new mini-album titled, WINDNESS, being released on January 16. WINDNESS is coming off the heels of his latest mini-album, WITNESS, released back in July and will be include five tracks total. 

Okabayashi commented saying that “This time around I composed the tracks with a sense of touch and smell similar to that of the five senses. An album that touches your mind as it depict expectations/ anxiety in related to the things the listener does in the present and in the future.
