Luna's Ongaku Go For October 2021!

Picking up after Gray with another month down from 2021, we at OTY would like our readers to know what was filling our ears for the past month. Each track is available across all digital music streaming platforms with Apple Music featured on this site.

“Lollipop Candy BAD girl” by tommy heavenly6

With my favorite holiday upon us, it’s not Halloween without one of my favorite tracks “Lollipop Candy BAD girl”. tommy heavenly6 has many Halloween themed tracks and the “long” version of this is my favorite, running a whole 10 minutes! The “long” version (or original version) is a treat as it includes extra creepy music that gives you the haunted circus vibe and knows how to put you in the mood. The actual song itself is more of a punk rock track, however, the lyrics fit perfect with the theme of Halloween. This was tommy heavenly6’s Halloween single from 2006 and I make it a tradition to listen to it every year.

“Crazy Party Night -Pumpkin no Gyakushu” by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

With the release of Kyary’s latest single “Gentenkaihi”, it got me to go back to her compilation album KPP from 2016. With the spooky season upon us, “Crazy Party Night” always lights up my Halloween Spirits. It’s no surprise that Kyary has several Halloween tracks including “Fashion Monster”, however, this is a favorite of mine. The music fits the creepy vibe and the lyrics are too perfect for this month. It’s a cute fun track that you would expect from Kyary but I cannot help but love it.

“Tattoo” by CREAM

This was a track I had been anticipating and CREAM did not disappoint. “Tattoo” is a more chill song than their usual tracks with a nice melody with smooth vocals from MINAMI and Staxx-T’s rap is chill but very toned down. The lyrics are very fitting and relevant to me, which is another reason I absolutely love this song. MINAMI and Staxx-T have the perfect harmonies in this, despite MINAMI obviously being the lead on this track. Staxx-T’s part fits perfectly, especially with the lyrics.

“Chill Like a Midnight” feat. Reddy by Yayoi Daimon

“Chill LIke a Midnight” was another anticipated track I had for October as Yayoi Daimon had been promoting it on all SNS. I love the change from Yayoi’s last digital single “Top Gyal” to “Chill LIke a Midnight” as this track is very refreshing with how chill it literally is. It’s a nice relaxing song, with a great vibe that pulls you in with its beats and Yayoi’s smooth vocals and Reddy’s rap is a nice addition. I love when Yayoi does tracks like this as it gives you a breather from her upbeat songs. “Chill LIke a Midnight” is also a befitting song for October as well, as it fits the mood of this month for me.

“New Gravity” by MIYAVI

This is the first track off MIYAVI’s newest album IMAGINARY that released in September. “New Gravity” immediately pulled me in as soon as I heard it. It has a very catchy chorus, amazing guitar work, and MIYAVI’s vocals are just amazing. I love the mixture MIYAVI does of English and Japanese in this track. “New Gravity” starts off in English for a whole versus, then switches to Japanese and it’s done so flawlessly that you don’t even realize it. This is a song that I have had on repeat since I heard it as it’s just fun all around and would be amazing to witness live.
