Luna's Ongaku Go For August 2021!

“Video” feat. Staxx T & CIMBA by t-Ace
Since the release of “Video” I have grown highly addicted to this track. The opening has this super catchy beat and CIMBA starts it off with his smooth vocals. Staxx T chimes in with his rap and matches perfectly with the composition. CIMBA is one of the highlights of this track as he does the chorus, while Staxx-T and t-Ace do the versus. t-Ace’s rap always catches me off guard due to his unique spin he puts on it. This is one of my favorite Hip-Hop tracks, especially when it comes to its collaboration. All three artists know how to come together and create a catchy and chill Hip-hop track. The lyrics are playfully fun and reminiscent of western rap. Note: This song does have explicit lyrics.

“Gila Gila” feat. JP THE WAVY, YZERR by Awich
I am always excited about Awich’s releases and “Gila Gila” did not disappoint. Awich goes hard with her rap and I love it. I feel like this is one of the hardest rap tracks I’ve seen her release. She shows off her cadence skills and puts her signature on it. The featuring artstis, JP THE WAVY and YZERR do not disappoint either - they both bring their best and fit perfectly with this track and Awich. This is a rap collaboration track made in heaven. It is heavily western influenced, which is their style and I like that. The chorus is very catchy and gets stuck in your head easily. “Gila Gila” brings the hype for Awich’s upcoming album Queendom that releases in late September.

“Chuppa Chupps” by CREAM
CREAM kills it again with their latest digital single, “Chuppa Chupps”. When I first heard it, I thought it was a little much with the repeating chorus, however, I loved it after the second listen as the versus’ are fantastic. Despite the chorus being slightly repeative, the composition fits very well and it gets stuck in your head. Staxx T knows how to compose the beats and makes it fit to both his and Minami’s strengths and I enjoy that. The composition reminds me of a video game crossed with hip hop beats that make me want to get up and dance. Staxx T’s rap stays with me in this, specifically in the second versus while Minami’s vocals are more on the minimal but in the end, both ends for vocals and rap equal out. “Chuppa Chupps” is no “Banana” but it is a fun summer track not to be missed. If you didn’t know what Chuppa Chupps is, it is a cream based soda and candy.

“Top Gyal” by Yayoi Daimon
I was not expecting Yayoi Daimon to release a track so soon after her single “Ego” but here she is again, back with a killer upbeat hip hop track. “Top Gyal” is exactly what the title sounds like, Yayoi doing what she does best - being the best. This track does have many explicit lyrics so be prepared. Despite this, it has a sick beat that makes you want to dance. Yayoi Daimon’s rap skills come out along with the reggae she incorporates in her music. “Top Gyal” is a cross between hip-hop and reggae, the beats are hip hop while Yayoi has that reggae style in her voice for the versus’. Yayoi shows she is the queen with this track and I cannot get enough of it.

“We’ll Be OK” by Koda Kumi
This is the popiest track on my top 5 of this month and also the most summery. I’m glad to see Koda Kumi back with a cute fun poppy summer track. “We’ll Be OK” is not only a summer track but its composition reminds me of a country pop feel, which I’m hit or miss on. I believe with “We’ll Be OK” the style works with Koda Kumi as she knows how to utilize her vocals to fit the type of track she is doing. This has a cute chorus that is super cheery and makes you want to sing-a-long with it. I love hearing Koda do tracks like “We’ll Be OK” as her cheery tracks tend to bring a smile to me and show that cutesy side of her than her more sexy side that most know her for.
