Hey! Say! JUMP announces new single

Johnny’s group Hey! Say! JUMP revealed they will be dropping a brand new double A-side single titled “I am / Muah Muah” which will be released February 26. The song “I am” is being used as the theme song for the drama series 「僕はどこから」(Boku wa doko kara). “I am / Muah Muah” is being released in three editions total: a CD-only standard edition, a Limited Edition One that will come with a bonus DVD, and a Limited Edition Two that will also come with a bonus DVD. Limited Edition One will feature the music video for “I am” and Limited Edition Two will feature the music video of “Muah Muah”. The standard edition will feature two unique songs which will be exclusive to that edition but it has not been revealed what those songs will be. Pre-orders are currently up and will be posted below along with the full track listing.

AIMYON Drops Teaser for New Music Video!

Japanese popular singer-songwriter AIMYON just dropped a teaser for her latest music video “Sayonara no Kyo ni” which serves as the theme to the Japanese TV show news zero. This is the latest release since “Sora no Aosa wo Shiro Hito yo” as AIMYON is currently on tour—which you can read more about in our previous article. There is currently no release date set but check out “Sayonara no Kyo ni” below!

Music Corner Week 35: Youmentbay

Youmentbay is a twin vocal pop rock unit formed back in 2017. Originally meeting in college, guitarist Yamaya and keyboardist Sakurai had the simple premise of wanting to create music that gives you a sense of freedom to roll with everyday life with that high. Youmentbay keeps true to that promise with light and euphoric compositions with beautifully crafted lyrical compositions.

Blurring the lines of city pop and R&B style, Youmentbay keeps listeners on their toes with several of their earlier work with alternative style guitar heavy tracks like “Cider” and “Feast”, but on a whim could flirt with psychedelic compositions like with “30th”. While this is the first inter-gender twin vocal unit that we have covered on Music Corner, they have set the bar for units of this caliber. Sakurai’s alluring high vocal range is nothing to sneeze at as not only can she invoke that city pop style range that is prevalent in their track “Night Radio”, she also plays with a slight R&B influence with their track “息をとめて” (“Imi o Tomete”). This is somewhat offset by Yamaya’s amazing vocals which are just smooth and encompass everything about their uplifting style of yearning to be free. While this random assortment might be overbearing to the senses to some, Youmentbay mixes it all together into a great melting pot that listeners just have to experience themselves.

Currently Youmentbay has released two EPs, Night Radio and Holiday in 2018, along with self-titled album Youmentbay in 2019 which you can purchase. With several digitally released singles throughout 2019, Youmentbay is looking to guide listeners to that freedom that they promise.

EXILE THE SECOND announces first greatest hits album

Male idol group EXILE THE SECOND revealed they will be releasing their very first greatest hit album titled EXILE THE SECOND The Best which is set to be released February 22. The new album is set to include two CDs featuring a theme. One disc will be themed “WILD” and the other themed “GENTLE”. The full track listing across both discs will include a total of 26 tracks with “WILD” featuring fourteen tracks and “GENTLE” containing twelve tracks. EXILE THE SECOND The Best is being released in five editions total: a standard two-disc CD edition, standard two-disc CD + DVD edition, standard edition two-disc CD + Blu-ray edition, limited edition two-disc CD + DVD edition, and finally a limited edition two-disc CD + Blu-ray edition. The limited editions will also come with a 100-page photo book. Pre-orders are already up along with a full track listing which will be posted below. Lastly, you can check out EXILE THE SECOND’s song “YEAH!! YEAH!! YEAH!!” as well (this will be the first track on the “WILD” themed disc).

milet Proves Herself Once Again With New Mini-album!

Japanese pop vocalist and up-and-coming artist milet is proving herself once again with her latest mini-album Prover/Tell Me, which drops February 19! Prover/Tell Me is milet’s fifth release and EP overall and follows up her latest EP Drown/You&I which came out this past November. “Prover” is the outro theme to the second season of the popular anime Fate/Grand Order -Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia-. Prover/Tell Me comes to us in three magnificent editions: a CD + DVD Limited Edition, a CD + DVD Limited Pressing Edition, and a Regular Edition. The CD + DVD Limited Edition includes the music video for “Prover” while the CD + DVD Limited Pressing Edition includes the non-credit ending to Fate/Grand Order plus limited anime cover artwork which is only available until the end of April 2020.
