FANTASTICS drop "Dear Destiny" music video

Male idol group FANTASTICS from Exile Tribe revealed the music video for their third and upcoming single “Dear Destiny”. In the music video we see the boys gathered in an apartment building and at first we follow each member but see two versions of them where one is just standing or walking around while the other one is dancing. As the music video moves along we eventually see the boys come together and, in my opinion, the coolest scene of the video: in the background there are the two primary vocalists of the group and then in the foreground there is the rest of the members dancing, but a member keeps disappearing and reappearing in various orders.

“Dear Destiny” is being released August 21 and will be available in two editions, a standard edition and a limited edition. The standard edition will be CD-only while the limited edition will include a bonus DVD.  The pre-order links are posted here.

Music Corner Week 17: Polkadot Stingray

Polkadot Stingray is a four-member rock band formed in 2015. With the daunting statement of a piercing guitar sound along with unique melodies and lyrics to break the stereotype of what it means to be a rock band, Polkadot Stingray is all bark with no bite. However, with lead singer Shizuku’s one-of-a-kind vocals, lead guitarist Harushi’s amazing knowledge and skill with his guitar compositions, and the group’s thought-provoking lyrics and themes, this group stands out compared to many other bands in the last five years.

While the band might be classified pop rock, they demonstrate that they are no one-trick pony and can change their style when needbe. Their song “Rhythmy” shows off captivating lyrics and a music video that grabs listeners through Shizuku’s alluring vocals and Harushi’s moving guitar-picking and welcomes them to their dark world. “DENKOUSEKKA”, on the opposite end of the spectrum, has the group take on a more high energy rock sound and showcases how talented Harushi is. Their latest track “Amida” shows that Polkadot Stingray isn’t stopping their growth as bassist Yuki holds more of a stand out role with guest support member and comedian Hollywood Zakoshishoh who boasts a fresh keyboard composition—which is a style the band had not yet experimented with previously.

While still only in their first four years of infancy, Polkadot Stingray has released one EP, “骨抜き” (“Honenuki”), back in 2016, before they signed to Universal the following year. Two mini-albums, 大正義(Dai Masayoshi) and一大事(Ichidaiji), were released in 2017 and 2018, respectively, along with a third, Hyper Horn, to be released later this year. Lastly, the band released albums 全知全能(Zenchi Zennou) and 有頂天(Uchoten) back in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Madkid debuts at Crunchyroll Expo

The Rising of the Shield Hero has turned out to be one of the biggest hit anime of 2019 so far and as a result, Crunchyroll is celebrating it this year at Crunchyroll Expo. They have several people involved with the show attending this event including five-member pop group Madkid who provided the opening to both halves of the show. The expo will kick off Thursday night August 28 and is set to run all weekend to September 1.

The Rising of the Shield Hero is about a boy who is whisked away to another world wherein he is one of four legendary heroes. Each hero has a special weapon and protagonist Naofumi is cursed with the shield, which has a bad reputation so he is forced to overcome a lot on his own.

If you are planning on attending the Crunchyroll Expo and have never heard of Madkid you can check out their music video for “Rise” which was the first opening for The Rising of the Shield Hero.

BiS involves fans with interesting way of debuting music video!

Popular alt-idol group BiS’s third generation dropped the music video for their upcoming track “BiS-どうやらゾンビのおでまし-“ (“BiS-Douyara Zombie no Odemashi-”), on their official YouTube channel. “BiS-Douyara Zombie no Odemashi-” will be the lead track for the group’s upcoming album Brand-new idol Society which drops August 14.

In an interesting campaign the entire music video is blurred with a mosaic filter, locking visibility of the members and layout of the video. Through Twitter, each group member must attain a total of 15,000 followers for the “true”, uncensored version of the music video to appear. The group also set up tiers for the video, stating that if members reach a total of only 13,000 followers, only half of the members will be “unlocked”, with the other half unlocked after 14,000 followers is reached. The members commented on the marketing saying that they think it a great idea and keeps the music video very dramatic. They also commented that they will have fun checking to see if the true version will finally be revealed.

As previously reported, Brand-new idol Society will drop with only a CD-only standard edition with thirteen tracks total. In the meantime check out the music video in question along with the pre-order links for Brand-new idol Society below!
