Music Corner Week 11: tiny yawn

tiny yawn is a four-member pop-rock band formed in 2017. Aligning with the fresh genre of alternative-pop, tiny yawn creates a beautiful and interesting sound which is a breath of fresh air in a genre wherein bands are a dime a dozen of.

Their songs “夜明の星” (“Yoake no Hoshi”) and" “寝言” (“Negoto”) both show off that uniqueness that makes them stand out. While both tracks seem to have a fairly simple composition for first time listeners, having vocalist-keyboardist Megumi’s powerful yet soothing vocals mix into said compositions dials them up dramatically; listeners are taken on a ride of delightful melodies which fans of the pop-rock genre have never been introduced to before.

Currently, tiny yawn has released two EPs, “swimmy/breather” and “Yoake no Hoshi/Negoto”, both from earlier this year. They also just announced that they will be performing in this year’s RO JACK for ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL.

sumika hopes to pass on legacy with music video collection!

On the eve of the release of their upcoming single “Equal/ Traveling”, four-member rock band sumika announced a brand new music video collection titled Music Video Tree Vol.1 & Vol. 2 dropping July 31. sumika commented on the title, stating that “we want the content that we created to be treasured and handed down so that the next generations can enjoy our music.”

Music Video Tree Vol.1 & Vol. 2 will drop with a two-disc DVD edition and a single Blu-ray edition and will include hits like “Lovers”, “Chime”, and “Fiction” along with several interviews. Popular illustrator YUGO lent his talents by designing the wholesome cover for the collection.

Rei Yasuda shows us her dazzling side with new single!

​After the success of her latest single “blooming”, vocalist Rei Yasuda announced that she will be releasing a brand new double A-side single, “over and over / dazzling tomorrow”, July 17.

Yasuda commented on both tracks stating that “over and over” is a comforting song that, like a special someone, will be a song that deeply and emotionally touches you. She also mentioned that “dazzling tomorrow” will serve as the insert song for cosmetics PYUAN’s upcoming batch of commercials.

The single will drop with not only the double A-side tracks but the instrumental versions of tracks, making the total four tracks included. It will also drop with two different editions: a standard CD-only edition along with a CD + DVD limited edition. The DVD will include both music videos for “over and over” and “dazzling tomorrow”. Aimer lights the torch

Following the success of her previous single, artist Aimer announced that she will be releasing a brand new single titled “Torch” which will be dropped August 14. “Torch” is being used for the upcoming historical anime Vinland Saga which is set in early eleventh century England.

“Torch” is being released in three editions. The standard edition will be CD-only while the limited pressing edition will come with a CD and DVD, and the limited edition will also be released with a CD and DVD along with including special packaging featuring Vinland Saga. Yui Horie shows fans what’s in her songbook with brand new album!

​Popular voice actress-turned-vocalist Yui Horie announced that she will be releasing a brand new album, 文学少女の歌集(Bungaku Shojo no Kashu), July 10. The album will be the latest physical release album from Horie since 2015’s hit ワールドエンドの庭 (World End no Niwa).

Bungaku Shojo no Kashu will drop with twelve tracks total and include hit tracks such as “Stay With Me” and “Asymmetry”. The album will also include several new tracks such as “春夏秋冬” (“Shukashuutou”), written by famed song writer Ryujin Kiyoshi, and several songs written by Horie herself.

Bungaku Shojo no Kashu will drop with two different editions: a standard CD-only edition and a CD + photo book limited edition, which you can pre-order at the links below!
