May J. unveils full track listing for upcoming album!

Japanese pop vocalist and NHK host of J-MELO May J. revealed the full track listing for her upcoming album Heisei Love Song Covers supported by DAM. There will be two editions: a 2-CD + DVD limited edition and a CD-only edition. The 2-CD limited edition will include a live CD from May J.’s Tour 2018 Harmony at Zepp Tokyo and a DVD which includes five music videos from songs on the album. Nana Mizuki announces pair of surprises!w

Ahead of the release of her clip compilation, popular voice actress-turned-singer Nana Mizuki announced a brand new single. Set for release July 17, the single—which has not been titled since the time of this writing—will be used for the opening theme of popular anime 戦姫絶唱シンフォギアXV (SENKIZESSHOU SYMPHOGEAR XV).

Also announced was that Mizuki will be starting another cross-country live tour July 6 titled NANA MIZUKI LIVE EXPRESS 2019 which will run until September 19 (see right for tour dates).

Yoh Kamiyama previews upcoming mini-album!

Electronic composer-songwriter You Kamiyama dropped a preview of his upcoming first mini-album しあわせなおとな (Shiawasena Otona) on his official YouTube channel. The mini-album is set for release April 3 with a total of eight tracks. It is produced by popular mixer Masashi Uramoto who previously worked with DAOKO. 

Shiawase Otona will also drop with three different versions: a standard edition and two limited editions—titled Yellow and Aoi Toge respectively .The difference between the two is that Yellow will include a specially designed T-shirt while Aoi Toge will include a small photo-booklet.

ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D on indefinite hiatus

Japanese three-member rock group ROOKiEZ is PUNK’D announced that the group will be taking an indefinite hiatus after their「World Tour 2018-2019」ends May 31 at Club QUATTRO in Shibuya. This news of hiatus came during the tour celebrating their album The Sun Also Rises, the tour having begun in September. On the band’s official website they released the following comment: “Due to issues that caused progress to stop within the group, after long discussions the band decided to take a  hiatus.”

The group originally formed in 2006, with first single “Complication” used as the second opening of popular anime Durarara!!!! This jumpstarted their career, which took off from 2010. Over the years ROOKiEZ is PUNK’D has released many memorable songs, several of which include theme songs to popular anime including Blue Exorcist, Bleach, and Yowamushi Pedal.

Nogizaka46 says goodbye to another member

Karin Ito announced March 22 that she would be leaving the popular idol group. Via Ito’s blog, she was saying that, upon reflection, she felt there was no future for her in the group and decided to leave. She is “still trying to figure out what is next for her” and says she needs some time to figure it out. A specific time for Ito’s graduation is still being determined but the handshake event at Aichi Port Messe Nagoya May 11 will be Ito’s last.

Ito first made her debut with Nogizaka46 on May, 2013 and is a part of the second generation of Nogizaka46. Since Ito’s debut she has been on several B-side tracks.
