Indie Corner Week 1: Emerald

Formed in 2011, Emerald is a five--occasionally six--member band that classifies as jazz and neo-soul. It wants to transcend what Japanese pop currently is. Lead vocalist Yosuke Nakano’s voice is just simply mesmerizing with how soothing it is and harmonizes very well with his bandmates. The instrumental beat jives very well without over-saturation. You can put yourself at ease by giving this group a listen.

Currently, Emerald has released two albums: Nostalgic Parade back in September of 2014, and their second album, Pavlov City, released in October 2017. Pavlov City was picked up on the Tokyo Rising playlist on Spotify. For 2018 they will be participating in Sakito festival and hope to continue giving their all and hoping that you feel the vibes as well.

Quruli Will Plan Something Special For Their Next Single Release!

Long-running band Quruli announced their new single "だいじなこと / 忘れないように" ("Daijinakoto/ Wasurenai youni"), which will be released on June 27th. However, the format for this particular song will seem a throwback prior to the digital age, as it will be released on a cassette tape rather than a CD with the A-Side on one side and the B-Side on another.

AKB48 Does A Sexy And Cute Dance For Thier New Music Video!

Popular Idol group AKB48 released the music video for their upcoming single "Teacher Teacher". Being released on May 30th, this single will be out before their senbatsu (elections) and will include one election ticket with each CD. "Teacher Teacher" will have first-timer Yui Oguri as the focal point. They favored a theme of a “sexy cute dance battle” for the music video. 

Also revealed were the single covers for "Teacher Teacher", which feature all of the members clad in very sexy black leather.

BABYMETAL Sets Up A Record Label In America!

Metal idol group BABYMETAL just recently announced a new clothing label, but today they announced a new record label named BABYMETAL RECORDS. This is in partnership with 5Bmanagement, who manages such bands as Slipknot, Megadeth, and Cooking Vinyl. They have handled releases of artists including Marilyn Manson and the Prodigy. If the record label takes off, we hope that this proves to be a great way that more bands can get noticed internationally!
