tricot Bring the Madness of Unbalancedness with Latest Music Video and Release!

“INAI” Digital Jacket Cover

“INAI” Digital Jacket Cover

Hot on the heels of the release of their last single “BAKURO” in May, Japanese rock band tricot return with another new track, “INAI”, which is released today, Wednesday, June 2 across all digital music streaming platforms.

The song was written for the Japanese drama series 春の呪い (Haru no Noroi). It is a killer tune whose lyrics flirt with a very human unbalanced madness, combined with the technical prowess and emotional musicality that is tricot’s calling card.

On the same day, a music video for “INAI” was released on tricot’s official YouTube channel. In the video, tricot give a passionate performance in a mysterious space that features a large hole that is clearly symbolic of… something. This dark and seemingly bottomless void is connected to the craziness of the song – but you’ll have to watch the video to the end to figure out what it all means.

Comment from tricot vocalist/guitarist Ikkyu Nakajima

“When I feel I am trapped by some invisible force, I realize that it is not real, just a curse of my own creation. I wrote “INAI” with this realization in mind. May everyone’s curses be broken!”

In addition, tricot will also appear at Japan’s largest outdoor rock festival, Fuji Rock Festival ’21. With tricot’s fiercely technical musicianship and their knack for unpredictable performances, it’s sure to be an exciting show.

The World’s First Next-Generation Music Project! 38 Stars are Transformed into Avatars as they Explore the Fusion of Real and Virtual Worlds with the BATTLE OF TOKYO Project!

BATTLE OF TOKYO is a next-generation entertainment project from LDH, the major Japanese artist management agency behind EXILE and J SOUL BROTHERS III. Now, the project will be fusing the real and virtual worlds to create never before seen entertainment.

A total of 38 members from the four groups that make up the Jr.EXILE collective -  GENERATIONS, THE RAMPAGE, FANTASTICS, and BALLISTIK BOYZ from EXILE TRIBE – have been transformed into avatars, marking the start of a unique “Mixed Reality Entertainment” project that crosses the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds. The project will produce a wide variety of digital and virtual content, from animation to games, live performances, music videos and even theatrical productions. The team has already released a set of incredible hybrid music videos, and a new album is set for release on June 23.

The BATTLE OF TOKYO project centers on the Jr.EXILE generation, and offers a glimpse into Super Tokyo, a vibrant futuristic city in a parallel world that exists in a totally different dimension from our own. Each group from within the collective has their own virtual counterparts: MAD JESTERS (GENERATIONS), ROWDY SHOGUN (THE RAMPAGE), Astro9 (FANTASTICS) and the JIGGY BOYS (BALLISTIK BOYZ).

The production staff on this project include top-class Japanese creators, such as Ghost in the Shell: The Movie Virtual Reality Diver director Hiroaki Higashi; Yusuke Kozaki, the character designer on Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Fire Emblem and the Godzilla anime trilogy; and mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi, who has worked on the Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Police Patlabor and Kamen Rider series. Meanwhile, the avatars will be voiced by some of Japan’s top talents such as Yuki Kaji, Subaru Kimura, Kaito Ishikawa, Shun Horie and Shunsuke Takeuchi.

This new album includes six new songs and four music videos! It also includes a concert video of BATTLE OF TOKYO ~ENTER THE Jr.EXILE~, which was filmed in July 2019 at Makuhari Messe in Japan, and is now available for the first time! There are seven versions of the album and videos available, including first-run limited edition and regular edition releases.

This new incarnation of the BATTLE OF TOKYO project recently kicked off with a set of four animated music videos – one for each song by GENERATIONS, THE RAMPAGE, FANTASTICS and BALLISTIK BOYZ from EXILE TRIBE. Available now on YouTube, each music video combines intense, action-packed animation with live-action performances from each group.

XANVALA Unravels a New Vale with Latest EP!

Promising five-member rock band XANVALA has released a first EP titled 我慾之幕 (Gayoku no Maku) on June 2. This work contains six tracks plus a DVD featuring the music video for “ヒトリ舞台” (“Hitori butai”).

Since the formation of the band in 2020, XANVALA has proved to be a must-listen for any rock music fan. Their fresh and energetic essence is showcased through the songs presented on this EP. The promotional track, “Hitori butai”, stands out with catchy riffs and a vibrant rhythm combined with the emotional voice of Tatsumi. In contrast to the ferociously loud single “Janome” that came out in January, XANVALA presents a brighter sound for this work. Despite this, tracks like “ratchet” or “Tragedy wa gitaisuru” are proof that the aggressive side is still present.

Prior to this release, the music video for “Dare ga tame no koufukuron” (from the singles compilation Roku jyuusou) was unleashed in March for the delight of fans of their earlier songs. The unstoppable race of XANVALA is underway as a new limited single has been already announced. The single Bamby will be available to purchase only at concerts from June 7.

XANVALA has been forced to slow down the pace due to the outbreak of the pandemic, but they are still aiming to reach more areas in Japan as far as the circumstances allow, and of course, hoping to tour internationally in the near future as well. For the time being, the band will be doing a Japanese one-man tour in August that includes Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Sendai.

As the curtain rises, witness the act that XANVALA has put on for the world to see! Be sure to check out the music video for “Hitori Butai” along with the order link for Gayoku no maku below!

Josh Cumbee and Vicke Blanka Unites with a New Sound of Your Name!

Los Angeles-born singer-songwriter Josh Cumbee and popular Japanese artist Vicke Blanka have united for new single “Sound Of Your Name (with Vicke Blanka)”, released worldwide on Friday, May 28 across all digital music streaming platforms.

“Sound Of Your Name (with Vicke Blanka)” is an acoustic version of Cumbee’s debut smash “Sound Of Your Name” freshly re-recorded in collaboration with Vicke Blanka, a breaking Japanese musician whose songs have been used as the theme tune to hit anime Black Clover and on a TV spot for Spotify Japan. The pair first met when Cumbee mixed “Bakashi Hour Night” by Vicke Blanka VS Taiiku Okazaki, which was released back in October of last year. The new collaboration is a natural extension of their friendship, born of mutual respect between two artists.

Vicke Blanka added his heartwarming vocals and new arrangements to this ephemeral acoustic rendition of “Sound Of Your Name”, exposing a new side to this song that sings of the deep wound that opens afresh whenever the singer thinks of his lost lover. The magnificent final chorus, sung by both musicians in unison, is a particular highlight.

The track instantly racked up "New Music Friday"; one of the most influential official Spotify playlists compiling the hottest and most notable recent releases, in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. In addition, the track made its way into Spotify “Acoustic Melodies Tokyo” playlist in Japan.

The song is accompanied by a lyric video, which expresses the melancholy of the lyrics with a selection of cute emoji. Some of these emoji will be especially familiar to Vicke Blanka fans, so be sure to pay close attention.

Cumbee made his debut as a solo singer in February of last year, after having built his career as a producer and songwriter for world-class artists such as Madonna, Chris Brown, Kygo, Rita Ora and Adam Lambert, and recently writing the worldwide hit “Wondering” for Olivia Rodrigo and Julia Lester. He has demonstrated his unique musical sense again and again through his production work, while his singing voice has been widely acclaimed since even before his singer-songwriter debut, when he was a guest vocalist on the hit single “Sunny Days” by veteran Dutch DJ/producer Armin van Buuren.

Having worked in genres including ballads, dance music, rock, K-pop and C-pop, Cumbee is a songwriter of exceptional talent. Be sure to check out “Sound Of Your Name (with Vicke Blanka)”, his first collaboration with another artist as a solo singer-songwriter.

Comment from Josh Cumbee

“I had the honor of mixing ‘Bakashi Hour Night’ for Vicke Blanka and Taiiku Okazaki a little while back – a super fun record to work on, and a very collaborative mixing process during which I got to know a small fraction of Vicke’s incredible talent. A little while later when I put out the acoustic version of my first single ‘Sound of Your Name’, I was surprised and thrilled to hear that he wanted to try it out as a collaboration. While sitting on a layover at the airport in Amsterdam I sent over the parts, and a few weeks later got back an incredible vocal from Vicke. He had some very inspiring harmony ideas that pushed me to add some additional creative touches for the new version… And just like that, the song was born.”

Comment from Vicke Blanka

“When I first listened to ‘Sound Of Your Name’, I instantly had the urge to collaborate with Josh, and so I contacted him. I’m grateful that things worked out so quickly. I hope you enjoy our dynamic chorus arrangements. We will definitely be working together again in the future.”
