NGT48 is pressing the reset button

Mega female idol group NGT48 is officially being dissolved. Following the separation of Nigata with NGT48, the group is looking for a fresh start. Currently there are still two teams that have performances left in April; these teams are Team NIII and Team G. Their performances will be the last for NGT48.

It’s still unclear how big the shakeup will be to the lineup but the new group will be considered first generation members and trainees.

AKS and the NGT management were the ones who ultimately decided the start-over. The reason behind the decision was because there weren’t too many members left and maintaining the group had become too stressful.

EXILE SHOKICHI mysteriously announces title for next solo album!

Vocalist-dancer EXILE SHOKICHI announced that he will be releasing his second solo album numerically titled 1114 May 15.  Included on 1114 will be SHOKICHI’s past hits such as “Underdog” and “Futen Boyz” along with the upcoming “Psychedelic Romance”—which will drop April 17— totaling to eleven tracks. 

1114 will have five different editions: a CD-only standard edition, CD + DVD/ Blu-ray standard edition, and a CD + DVD/ Blu-ray limited edition. Both editions of CD + DVD/Blu-ray will include music videos of five songs with the limited edition also including a 40-minute documentary cleverly titled 「STORY OF 1114」.

Daichi Miura has new single around the corner

Popular vocalist Daichi Miura has a new single coming out just around the corner. The new single, “片隅 (Katasumi) / Corner“, is due out June 12 and serving as an insert song for the TV drama 白衣の戦士！ (Hakui no Senshi!) . “片隅 (Katasumi)” was written and composed by popular Japanese model Koki.

Koki mentioned in a statement that she wrote the song for “someone who has high vocals” and was happy to find out that Miura would be the one performing the song. She says she finds his voice to be gentle. Miura commented how he finds the song to be very beautiful.

“片隅 (Katasumi) / Corner“ is being released in two editions. One edition is the CD + DVD Edition while the other version of “片隅 (Katasumi) / Corner“ that is being released will be a CD + Blu-ray.

Also coming out June 12 is a live recording of the concert Miura did March 13 at Osaka-Jo Hall which was titled “ONE END”. “ONE END” is coming out on both Blu-ray and DVD; both editions will come in a two-disc set along with two CDs as well.

B'z announces monumental new album

Long-running rock duo B’z  announced their newest original album NEW LOVE. Dropping May 29, the album, which is the group’s astronomical twenty-first original album, will be the latest release by B’z since DINOSAUR back in November of 2017. The album will feature popular tracks such as “Majestic” and “兵、走る” (“Hei, Hashiru”), totaling the track listing out to thirteen songs. B’z also managed to book Joe Perry from legendary band Aerosmith to participate in their new song “Rain & Dream”. This was made possible as the two bands worked closely before.

NEW LOVE will release with three amazing editions: a CD-only standard edition, a CD + T-shirt limited edition, and an LP edition.

Nakagawa Shoko and Kobyashi Sachiko team up again for collaboration single!

Japanese voice actress-turned-singer Shoko Nakagawa and popular Enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi are teaming up for a special new single. The song will be titled “風といっしょに” (“Kaze to Issho ni”), arranged by veteran of the industry Seji Kameda. The single shares the same name as a different song by Kobayashi Sachiko, which was used for Pokémon: The First Movie. Now, with Nakagawa and Kobayashi teaming up for the second time since 2014, “Kaze to Issho ni” will serve as the theme song for Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION, a remake of the first movie, which will hit theatres July 12.

“Kaze ni Issho ni”, which will be released July 10, will come in three Poké-tastic editions: a CD + DVD + GOODs limited edition, CD-only limited pressing, and CD standard edition. More details are to come on the contents included in each edition.
